Four. 2024

This fluid and richly detailed painting presents an imaginative interpretation of Place Masséna in Nice, reimagined through symbolic elements and surreal details.

On the right stands the sculpture of Apollo, whose missing pinky finger on the left hand — the result of tourist mischief in real life — is transformed by the artist into a symbol of vulnerable, ironic perfection.
At the base of the sculpture is Tram No. 1, a familiar sight in the square, linking ancient mythology with the rhythm of modern city life.

Surrounding Apollo are seven golden thinkers seated atop tall poles wrapped in what appears to be the god’s towel.
At the bottom of the composition is a bronze sculpture symbolizing Earth.
From her shoulder, an owl takes flight — a symbol of wisdom — heading toward the sculpture of the dolphin, creating a sense of connection between the elements in the scene.

The checkerboard pavement of the square is transformed into a silhouette of France, subtly hiding words in both French and English, inviting the viewer into a game of discovery.

This painting stands out not only for its visual richness, but also for its playful tone, encouraging the viewer to see a well-known place from an unexpected angle.
The missing pinky, the towel, and the thinkers on poles turn the familiar into a story full of irony, symbolism, and meaning.
