- Generations of people replace one another,
and each of them, with respect and admiration,
turns to the artists of past eras.
Their names are fixed in history,
their works are preserved in museums,
their time has already taken place and come to an end.
While viewers continue to look backward,
contemporary artists create the image of the time
in which these viewers live today.
They are the ones who may become
the illustrators of our era.
This work is not a dispute with the past
nor a denial of great names.
It is a reminder
that respect for history should not turn
into a rejection of the present.
Only the support of viewers and a living response
help contemporary artists
not to disappear
into a feeling of oblivion and uselessness.
