Loneliness. 2023
In this early work, the artist portrayed himself as a fox surrounded by crows — as if his own dark thoughts were swarming around him. A dark cloud rises from his head: a visual metaphor for the loneliness that felt especially intense at the time.
The phrase on the ribbon, “C’est moi parmi mes pensées sombres” — “This is me among my dark thoughts” — emphasizes how autobiographical this painting is.
It was a turning point — both personal and artistic. That was when the lines and forms began to emerge through which the artist first felt his own voice.
