The Monument. 2024
This work presents another dynamic interpretation of the famous blue chair monument, a symbol of the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
Here, the traditional image evolves into a whimsical, flowing form that seems to connect sky, sea, and land.
During the creation process, the artist noticed a striking resemblance between the shape of the monument and a human hand — an idea that ultimately found its way into the painting.
The blue chair, transformed into a living shape, takes on the features of fingers, as if reaching out to touch the horizon — symbolizing the connection between humans and the surrounding world.
The background immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of the French Riviera.
The deep blue of the sea blends into a rich turquoise sky, setting a harmonious tone, enhanced by the presence of smooth, drifting clouds.
A plane soaring above the water recalls the frequent flyovers above Nice’s beaches, adding a sense of movement and modern life to the composition.
A golden glow emerging from beneath the ground distorts the familiar image, adding depth and mystery.
It appears to represent inner energy or hidden meanings embedded within the forms.
This painting not only reflects the symbolism of Nice, but also invites contemplation on the interplay of elements — air, sea, land, and humanity.
The image of the blue chair taking on the form of a hand emphasizes constant transformation and the artist’s ongoing effort to reinterpret the familiar, revealing a deeper connection between art and nature.
