The Roulette of Time. 2025

This painting presents a whirlwind-like interpretation of the Monte Carlo Casino façade.
Red-and-white diamonds frame the image, evoking the heraldry of the Principality of Monaco. Hidden within them are the words “HAPPINESS,” “BONHEUR,” and Chinese characters meaning “happiness” — but not “luck,” which is significant, as wishing someone luck is considered inappropriate in a casino.

The Monaco flags swirl around the composition, pulling the viewer into an atmosphere of tension and excitement.
The clock on the façade is transformed into a roulette wheel, emphasizing the notion that time loses its meaning within the walls of the casino.

Also symbolic are the sculptures of Fernando Botero’s “Adam and Eve”, connected to a humorous superstition:
before playing, gamblers rub Adam’s genitalia, believing it will bring them a win.

At the bottom of the painting, we see the reflection of Monaco’s silhouette in the spherical mirror found in the fountain in front of the casino — a final, grounding detail in this rich and surreal composition.
