To Stir the Log. 2023

This is a fluid and profound canvas, where the whimsical forms reflect the artist’s complex inner world.
At the center is an intricate tangle of textures resembling an anatomical depiction of a hand and fingers — seemingly brought to life by a surge of energy.
The lines appear to tell a story of pain, healing, and constant transformation, directly tied to the artist’s personal experience with a serious physical challenge.

Over the course of a year, the artist underwent four surgical operations, during which a tendon was removed from the ring finger to restore functionality in the index finger.
This intense struggle to regain movement is etched into every curve of the lines and every shape within the composition.

The color palette is intentional: red, white, and blue lines surrounding the central form echo the French flag, giving the painting both aesthetic balance and symbolic meaning.
The red streams represent pain, surgery, and sacrifice;
the blue energy symbolizes calm and the slow process of recovery;
and the white background provides a space for reflection and inspiration.

Together, these elements form a rich portrait of both physical and emotional battle — and the resilience required to emerge from it transformed.
